Recent Career Highlights
David is a teacher taught Physics and Chemistry and began a 4-year curriculum of Aviation. The curriculum included Introduction to Aviation, Private Pilot Ground School Training, Flight Training and Planning and a 12th grade course in Instrument Flight and Aviation Career Preparation. David was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) field test school training program and worked with AOPA to establish the 4-Year high school curriculum across the nation. Today he continues as an AOPA Teacher Trainer. David also worked with AOPA to review and implement their curriculum and he was one of 25 teachers to conduct field testing of the programs for 4 years within his school. David was responsible for establishing a flight school at the Kenedy Regional Airport and supported all funding for the Karnes City Independent School District (KCISD) aviation program. He was awarded $25,000 from America Airlines for his successful work in school aviation programs. David’s work at the school level included implementing an aircraft build team. This team worked to construct parts on 2 Van’s Aircraft. KCISD’s Aviation Department was chosen as one of the most successful aviation programs in the State of Texas in 2017. The honor was bestowed on KCISD by the Aviation Committee Chair of the Texas House of Representatives. David served for 2 years on the FAA Youth Access to American Jobs in Aviation Task Force, a 21-member committee meeting under the guidance of the FAA to introduce new avenues to prepare youth for jobs in all sectors of aviation. This committee was to advise the Congressional Budget in areas that would support the demand for aviation jobs. Currently, David sits on a variety of national aviation committees and continues to advise in areas of drone pilot training, aviation education, curriculum preparation and teacher training. He teaches a summer STEM Aviation Camp for over 25 individuals yearly and has developed a curriculum for middle school aviation instruction. He also continues local pilot training in his spare time.
