The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to promoting consumer safety, youth education, and technological advancement in spacemodeling (sport rocketry) within the United States. Established in 1957, the NAR stands as the world's oldest and largest spacemodeling organization, boasting a membership exceeding 8,000 individuals and approximately 220 affiliated clubs nationwide. Among its initiatives, the NAR offers the Gleda M. Estes Scholarship for the Advancement of Young Women in STEM, providing $3,000 scholarships annually to deserving recipients. The number of awards granted is determined yearly by the Board of Trustees, with announcements and presentations taking place at the national meet (NARAM) held in late July or early August. Attendance at NARAM is not required to receive the scholarship award.
