EquIP HQ: A new and exciting resource for learners and educators

On February 28, 2023, 6-7:30 p.m. ET, join the United States Patent and Trademark Office's (USPTO) Office of Education as we explore EquIP HQ. This is a new web-based portal designed for K-12 educators and learners to support the development of STEM-based lesson plans that will enhance student learning, creativity, and innovation. Juan Valentin, an education program advisor at the USPTO, and David Youngblut, Director of Learning Design at Second Avenue Learning, will explain the genesis of the project and walk the users through this exciting new tool!

The primary goal of EquIP HQ is to raise intellectual property awareness, knowledge, and understanding among K-12 learners and educators. We want each student to recognize the inventor or creator within themselves, and we hope that each student will understand that their ideas, coupled with action, are valuable.

Invention education is for every student and so is intellectual property. Through this platform, we hope to enable all learners to recognize their power to actively participate in the innovation ecosystem.

EquIP HQ is created by the USPTO in a contracted effort with Second Avenue Learning and offers standards-aligned, integrated K-12 lesson plans, that allow educators to choose lessons appropriate for their learners.
