The only area I know of where a helicopter enjoys less danger than a fixed-wing airplane is in the speed of the aircraft, and the ability to slow/halt movement. Of course, a fixed-wing aircraft can’t slow down or hover.

But in all other aspects, a helicopter is more difficult to fly. 
And as best as I know, no fixed-wing pilot ever rescued a helicopter pilot. :0)
