Historic photo of Slick Airways aircraft presented to Institute Archives

The Dee Howard International Education Foundation recently gave a framed historic photograph of a Slick Airways aircraft to the Institute Archives. The image was taken in front of a building with a sign that reads "Alamo Field," which is where the San Antonio International Airport was built during World War I. Dee Howard, a respected inventor and San Antonio entrepreneur, worked for Slick Airways following the war.

The Dee Howard International Education Foundation oversees and manages the Dee Howard Memorabilia.

Howard's daughter, Dee Ann Bridges, who serves as a board member of the Dee Howard Foundation, along with the Dee Howard International Education Foundation, decided to donate the memorabilia to Southwest Research Institute in appreciation for the many years of collaboration and friendship between SwRI and Dee Howard and the foundations that continue his legacy.

The Institute Archivist, Senior Specialist Anissa Garcia (Communications), hosted the visit on December 13 in the Archives. Chair Wayne Fagan (Dee Howard International Education Foundation), Bridges, Executive Director Christina Martinez (Dee Howard Foundation), President and CEO Adam Hamilton, Vice President Tony Magaro (Human Resources), and Executive Director Dr. Tim Martin (Communications) were on hand for the gift presentation.
